Spencer Rattler Has My Attention-- And Possibly QB1 Locked

I went into Saints training comp thinking the quarterback competition would be 1.) horrendous 2.) uncertain --but Spencer Rattler quickly changed that narrative.

From the moment he stepped on the field, Rattler brought something you just can't teach: pure fire and passion. Whether it was during target drills or full-on scrimmages, he showed energy and intensity on every snap that immediately caught my eye.

What really stood out was his mobility this training camp. On the rare occurences where our O-Line gave his time to scan the field, Rattler was calm, delivering accurate throws. But when pressure came, he didn't panic--instead, he confidently stepped out the pocket to show the fans he still has those jets in his legs. Seeing him complete plays with his legs is a highlight I surely won't forget anytime soon.

Now I'm going to throw in a Drew Brees comparison in here, but just hear me out before you get all rowled up, okay? Okay. Rattler's fire and passion reminded me of Drew Brees in our 2009 golden era. We've been starved for the spark, that relentless intensity after every play, that made us believe in the guy under center. I mean come on, you've heard the jokes-but-not-really-jokes about convincing Drew Brees to come out of retirement just to feel that vibe once again.

Watching Rattler bring that same kind of heat--that hunger--gave me a real sense of hope. It's not just about talent; it's about character, leadership, and that unshakable confidence that makes you trust your quarterback to lead you through every snap. If he keeps that up, I', feeling a new kind of optimism for the Saints' future.

This kind of dual-threat ability combined with his leadership vibe is exactly what the Saints need at quarterback right now. If he keeps showing up like this, I have no doubt Spencer Rattler should be the starter when the regular season kicks off.

Stay tuned, because this might be the start of a new era in the Dome--and trust me, she knows the play.
